Amazing Move

By Sharon Godsey, RN  Beaverton, OR

By January of 2005, I was totally burned out at my job, with my friends, with working, and with life in general.
I worked nights in a hospital Medical unit. My job involved a lot of walking, lifting, and bearing the weight of others.
My right knee had given me trouble for several years and now every limping step caused a grating, gravely-type pain.
As 10 p.m. approached each night, the heaviness inside me grew unbearable. I didn’t know how I was going to make myself go to work.
I prayed many prayers to my Father in heaven to help me make it three more months until my retirement. I asked God to help me through the next shift, to help me be a blessing to my patients and my coworkers, to not harm anyone, and to make good decisions.
At the end of February, I called the ortho surgeon’s office to see if something more could be done for my pain.
Dr. Coen’s assistant said, “How about surgery on Friday?”

About Our Stories

Our Stories God's Glory  Everyone has a story—a story with the power to impact us in a special way. When an individual in this book shares what happened in his or her life, one central character emerges: GOD—the God of the Universe!

Actually, all the stories in this book are God’s stories. God is the Giver, the Redeemer, the Encourager, the Forgiver, the Helper, the Rescuer, the Provider, the Savior and the Friend.

We want to encourage you to write down your own stories of God's touch in your life. Share the challenges you have faced. Let us know how God helped you during a difficult challenge you faced.

"Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father, the God from whom all help comes! He helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (Good News Translation)

Let your heart, mind, and spirit become more sensitive as to how God is at work in and around you right now, even when it may not seem like anything is happening. As you remember people throughout the Old and New Testament who experienced God's promises and blessings, let their stories encourage you that nothing is impossible with God. What God has done before, He can do again.

Most of the stories in this book, OUR STORIES, GOD'S GLORY, come from people David & I have known here in the Portland area for over thirty years. We know the integrity of each individual and we are convinced of the truth of their stories (copywritten by Seed Faith Books). As people have shared with us their experiences of God at work in their lives, we have discovered each story to be unique because our God, Creator of the Universe, never seems to do the exact same thing twice.

Midnight Collision

by Jerry & Jan Werner, Bend, OR

Jerry: In March 1997, my wife Jan and I drove our Priva van (with a large glass windshield in the front), pulling a fully loaded trailer from Sisters, Oregon, to an art stamp convention in Southern California.
We decided to leave late at night to miss the winter storm moving in the next day. After driving through Klamath Falls around midnight, we came around a bend in the road. As our headlights lit the long stretch of highway in front of us, we could see a herd of deer standing all across the roadway.
The deer stood frozen, staring at our headlights as we sped towards them at sixty-five mph. I slammed on the brakes, but I could feel the trailer pushing us forward.
Jan:  I frantically searched for an open space where our van could drive through. But deer covered both sides of the highway. With the Priva windshield that comes down in front, we could clearly see the deer directly in front of us.
